Responsibilities
- Review loan applications and supporting documentation.
- Analyze financial data and assess risk.
- Make underwriting decisions and recommend loan approval or denial.
- Communicate with loan officers, borrowers, and other stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations and industry trends.
- Provide guidance and training to junior underwriters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting.
- Proven track record of making accurate underwriting decisions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines.
- Certified Mortgage Underwriter (CMU) designation preferred.
